Gifted Update 6/9/2020: Identification

With the closure of Prince William County Schools due to COVID-19, gifted identification has been on hold. At this time, we expect to resume the identification process in August. Additional meetings of the  division-level Gifted Identification/Placement Committee have been scheduled to review cases and make decisions regarding eligibility and placement for gifted services.  We will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sara Frasnelli (Briggs) at frasnesl@pwcs.edu

During Stonewall's online learning, SIGNET students receive invites to their Microsoft 365 email to meet through Zoom. Please note the schedule below:
    6th Grade- Wednesdays, 9:30AM
    7th Grade- Mondays, 9:30AM
    8th Grade- Tuesdays, 9:30AM

Please feel free to contact me through email or Microsoft Teams' chat if there are any questions or I can provide support.

Stonewall Middle School's gifted program, SIGNET (Schools Involved in Gifted Needs of Education Today), services grades 6-8 students identified as requiring gifted services in Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and/or Science. More information may be found on the Prince William County Gifted Education Program site.

If you notice your student strongly inclined towards a content area above, critical and/or creative thinking, communicating, or any other supported qualities listed in the "Parent Report" file (in the Forms & Documents page at the bottom), and/or you would like more information about how to refer your student or gifted services provided, please email Sara Briggs at frasnesl@pwcs.edu.

Stonewall SIGNET services for 2019/2020 are through a pull-out program on a rotating schedule for two periods twice per week. For quarters 1 through 3, the schedule is as follows: 6th grade- Wednesdays, 7th grade- Mondays, 8th grade- Fridays. Quarter 4's schedule will include Open-SIGNET, and further scheduling depends upon SOL review and test dates.

For current students, units materials and extra activities may be found in "STMS-Stonewall SIGNET" Microsoft Teams, and center resources are found in the "Stonewall Centers 2020" Notebook. Finally, follow our Twitter Page for latest photos and updates.
