Hello! My name is Morgan Lally and I teach 7th Grade Language Arts on Team Penn State!

I am originally from Cape May, New Jersey, but I have lived all over the country, and even Europe for a few years. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Massachusetts, and I also hold a Master's Degree in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum from Drexel University.

I have had a passion for Language Arts since the 10th Grade where I met an incredible Language Arts teacher. She helped me realize that teaching Language Arts is about instilling a love of reading and writing, but also about connecting with students and showing them how literature can teach them about themselves and the world around them. However, my love of reading has always been there, and really exploded when I was 12 years old and read my first Harry Potter book. My goal is always to develop a passion for reading and writing with my students. If you don't like reading it is only because you haven't found the right book yet!

In Ms. Lally's Language Arts Class:
We will focus on the importance of reading and writing.
There will be a strong emphasis on using our critical and creative thinking skills.
We will make meaning from what we read.
We will express ourselves uniquely through our writing.

Every Week You Will:

1. Participate in/Watch the live instruction with Ms. Lally twice a week on Zoom.
2. Complete any assignments or discussions within the module we are working on in Canvas.
3. Read your independent reading book daily, responding to your reading, and collecting any interesting or unfamiliar words.
4. Write in your Daybook twice per week.

Make sure to explore all of the buttons on my Canvas page, paying close attention to the Daily Task Agenda which outlines everything you need to complete each week. Additionally, you should be using your digital notebook via the Class Notebook button on the side of our Canvas page to complete your reading responses and Daybook writing.
